Hypercube appoints Bridgit Hartland-Johnson as Non-Executive Director, strengthening our role in helping the energy sector navigate its AI-enabled transition.
Hypercube, the specialist AI consultancy and technology partner for the energy sector, today announces the appointment of Bridgit Hartland-Johnson as Non-Executive Director. Bridgit brings more than 30 years industry experience in energy strategy, infrastructure and regulation across global markets – a combination of expertise that directly amplifies Hypercube’s mission to support the energy transition with innovative AI solutions.
Strengthening Hypercube’s domain-led approach to AI
Hypercube combines deep technical capability in AI, cloud and data engineering with specialist energy-sector expertise. As more organisations look to adopt AI, domain-specific understanding is increasingly essential. Bridgit’s background – at the nexus of infrastructure, government, investment and innovation – significantly enhances Hypercube’s ability to design and deliver technical solutions that enhance business value, are operationally robust and align with emerging regulation.
Her appointment reinforces Hypercube’s position as a trusted partner capable not only of building advanced AI systems, but also guiding organisations through the strategic, commercial and regulatory complexity of deploying them in real-world energy environments.
Iain Cherry, COO, Co-Founder of Hypercube, said:
“Bridgit brings extraordinary depth in energy systems, policy and infrastructure – but also a mindset that aligns perfectly with Hypercube’s mission to help organisations deliver meaningful, long-term impact. Her sector expertise is invaluable as we expand our work across energy, infrastructure and climate transition. We are thrilled to welcome her to the board.”
A career shaping modern energy systems
Bridgit joins Hypercube following a highly influential tenure as Director and Chief Specialist at Ørsted, one of the world’s largest renewable energy companies. There, she played a pivotal role in delivering first-of-a-kind infrastructure programmes now redefining how clean energy is developed, financed and integrated into national grids. Her leadership was central to securing board-level approval and external funding for maturing complex, high-capex projects including:
- Battery energy storage
- Offshore integrated energy hubs
- Long-duration energy storage
- Hybrid interconnector assets accessing dual markets
She established governance and risk frameworks that enabled innovation at scale, aligning commercial, regulatory and operational drivers across government, investors and private-sector partners. She also represented Ørsted in high-level forums with DESNZ, Ofgem, NESO and marine regulators, shaping the UK’s emerging policy mechanisms – including the long-duration storage cap-and-floor model.
Beyond infrastructure, Bridgit championed inclusion and employee experience, co-chairing the Ørsted Women’s Network, expanding it globally and introducing progressive policies on mentoring and parental leave.
Earlier in her career, she held senior roles in Siemens’ UK and German operations, contributed to the founding of the storage business that later became Fluence, and led innovation within Siemens Financial Services. She also founded a consultancy advising the Indian government and state-owned utilities on grid modernisation and smart infrastructure.
