About Gore Street Capital

Gore Street Capital is a market leader in energy storage systems and renewable energy solutions. Through its funds, the business has built a growing international portfolio of grid scale battery assets, with operational projects across markets including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Texas and California, alongside new funds and pipeline activity in Japan and Europe.

As the business has scaled, Gore Street Capital has continued to bring more operational capability in-house. Its asset management team plays a central role in overseeing day-to day fleet performance, balancing EBITDA optimisation with risk management across a complex and expanding portfolio.

With ambitions to enter new markets, onboard new projects efficiently and deepen its use of data across asset management, commercial and optimisation workflows, Gore Street Capital required a more flexible and future-ready approach to managing operational data

"As we scaled, not having control of our technology roadmap became a real limitation. Gaining ownership of our data and greater control over our systems was essential."

The Challenge

As Gore Street Capital expanded its battery storage portfolio across multiple geographies, its asset management team was working with data from a growing number of sites, systems and contractors. Most assets were producing operational data, but it was delivered in different formats and through different partners, making it challenging to access, standardise and use consistently across the fleet.

Greater control over the technology roadmap also became a priority. As new operational requirements emerged, building features through external providers could be costly or delayed on shared roadmaps. For a business moving quickly into new markets and services, this limited flexibility became a constraint.

Gore Street Capital identified a wider opportunity. With the right data foundations in place, it could not only optimise day-to-day asset management, but also create the foundation for more advanced analytics, automation and AI-driven capabilities over time. To unlock that value, the team required a platform it could control, extend and use as its own.

"What we expected to take three months was delivered in just six weeks. It’s ridiculous how much quicker it is when you set up the right structures and have control of your own data."

Our Approach

Gore Street Capital partnered with Hypercube to design and build a scalable data platform that consolidated operational data from across the fleet into a single, structured environment. The focus from the outset was to create strong foundations: standardise site data, make it easier to access and interpret, and enable Gore Street Capital’s team to build operational logic and reporting around its own priorities.

Rather than building a fully bespoke system from scratch, Hypercube worked with Gore Street Capital to create an in-house platform using readily available technologies, configured in a way that matched the realities of battery asset management. This gave Gore Street Capital a far more accessible, cost-effective and faster route to ownership than a traditional custom build, while still delivering the flexibility it needed.

Operational data from multiple sites and providers was ingested into the platform and organised using tiered data structures, enabling the team to work from standardised silver and gold layers for analytics and downstream workflows. This reduced the effort required to interpret incoming data and made it possible to run analytical processes more consistently across the fleet.

With the platform in place, Gore Street Capital could begin developing its own alerts, alarms and monitoring logic based on the way it actually manages assets. Severity levels, triggers and workflows could now be shaped around the asset management team’s operational priorities rather than generic configurations set elsewhere.

Hypercube delivered the platform collaboratively, working closely with Gore Street Capital throughout the process. The result was not just a technical deployment, but a practical operating environment that the team could use, extend and improve over time.

"We have our own in-house platform now and Hypercube got us there."

Outcomes

Improved Efficiency for a Lean Asset Management Team

Gore Street Capital’s asset management team oversees a large and growing fleet across multiple markets. The platform supports this by reducing manual effort, improving fleet visibility and making it easier to monitor performance across assets without relying on multiple interfaces or ad hoc analysis.

Faster Alert Response and More Actionable Insight

By standardising incoming data and making it easier to run analytics across the fleet, the platform has enabled Gore Street Capital to generate alerts and operational insight more effectively. This helps the asset management team focus attention where it matters most and respond faster when issues arise.

Greater Control Over Data and Technology Roadmap

The new platform gives Gore Street Capital direct control over how it uses its data and how new features are developed. Instead of relying on external providers to prioritise new requests, the team can now build and refine workflows around its own needs, enabling faster iteration and stronger alignment with day-to-day operations.

Scalable Foundation for AI and Automation

Crucially, the platform was designed not just for current needs, but for future use cases. Gore Street Capital now has a flexible data environment that is ready to support AI-assisted workflows, automated asset management processes and deeper integration of operational knowledge into day-to-day decision-making.

"I don't know how we could have started on this journey without working with a partner that understood AI, data engineering and the energy storage industry."

Future Scope

Gore Street Capital’s ambitions extend well beyond consolidating data. As the business continues expanding into new markets and onboarding new battery projects, the platform provides a scalable operating foundation that can support growth without requiring a significant increase in operational overhead.

Future phases will focus on extending the value of the platform across more teams and workflows, including broader reporting, commercial benchmarking and AI-enabled processes. This includes the potential to automate elements of fault detection, contextualise operational issues using historical knowledge, and support more intelligent decision making across asset management.

Gore Street Capital is harnessing the platform capabilities more broadly as part of its operational service offering, helping support additional assets with data-driven tools and workflows. By building the right data foundations early, Gore Street Capital has established agility, creating the flexibility to move faster, manage assets more effectively and unlock new value from the large volumes of operational data generated across its fleet.
